Most in-the-loop rom-com buffs these days are probably on the edge of their seats, running out of tissue as they binge through the first seven episodes of the sophomore season of Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty on Prime Video. As its second season draws to a close on Friday, August 18, fans of the quintessential rom-com may be looking to the horizon-mind you, not to find a blessed lover who will fill them with all the stomach butterflies you’d think would only be found in the movies-to find other streaming rom-coms to spend their nights with.
While not exactly a bingeable series, luckily, Prime Video has put out a steamy rom-com to satiate one’s need for more emotional melodrama. The film Red, White & Royal Blue dropped on Friday, August 11, to relatively good critic reviews and audience reception. You might have seen the buzz it made over the weekend on the local Twitterverse (X-verse?), and yup, we’re here to let you in on the fun.
Where to stream Red, White & Royal Blue in the Philippines
You can stream Red, White & Royal Blue on Prime Video, which now goes for only P149 a month. The two-hour film—as shocking as it may seem—pitches the ol’ enemies-to-lovers trope but between a British prince and the son of the President of the United States. Essentially, enemies-to-lovers on the largest global and political scale. The movie was based on the hugely popular novel by author Casey McQuiston; cue sweet, cheesy moments you won’t be able to get enough of. Hey, who says only cis couples can get the cutesy rom-com treatment?
The film follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (The Kissing Booth’s Taylor Zakhar Perez), the First Son of the United State’s first female President, who gets into a physical fight with Prince Henry (Purple Hearts’ Nicholas Galitzine) while visiting the United Kingdom. The two are forced to play nice and spend more time with one another in order to avoid further media scrutiny. However, this unintentionally leads to the pair developing a “friends-with-benefits” situation (a classic) and falling in love.
Oh, and Uma Thurman plays the aforementioned President of the United States. But if you needed further convincing, the people of X have spoken:
